Ei is the Japanese word for stingray, duly named for the shape of the backrest: broad and tapered to a point at each end, spreading like the wings of a ray in open water. Produced for Origin Made, Gabriel Tan's updates to Yamakawa's original design bring it into present-day production while leaving its character fully intact. The slender black metal legs bow gently outward, and are structurally held together by a continuous curved stretcher of opposing semi-circles, giving the base a simple yet calligraphic quality found throughout Yamakawa's body of work.
