The elegant scissor legs and floating back of this dining chair are inspired by the Mexican mid-century chairs of Eugenio Escudero, which were originally designed for a project that overlooked the Bacochibampo Bay of Sonora in the 1950s. Escudero, a Spanish Civil War refugee, started a furniture company and showroom in Mexico in the 40’s. His style had a particularly organic, often sculptural aesthetic.
