A circle on the floor changes a room. With no corners to align, no edges to run parallel to the wall, the circular form of Platô resolutely occupies space on its own terms, creating a zone of gathering rather than a boundary. Platô, plateau in Portuguese is a woolen rug with two concentric fields which are tufted at different pile heights: the outer ring is close-cut and restrained and feels firm underfoot, while the inner circle is cut taller so that it looks fuller and feels softer. The edge between them is not a ruled line but an organic contour, and it is here that the rug lives.
